This one’s very like the W72 Small Dodecicosidodecahedron but this time the square caps are covered while the triangles and pentagons are left open. The outer or ‘hull’ shape, though, is the same – actually it’s a Small Rhombic Icosidodecahedron.

There’s about 25 years between the dates I made these two models, and perhaps it shows: the colours here are just vibrant. And I find it amazing that we can get such a pretty shape with just two underlying polygons – the squares and the decagons.

Happily again we have a photo of the Science Museum model, though perhaps it’s time to say I don’t think their models are well displayed, and a lot of them could do with a bit of maintenance!
